| PP cautions Central Govt on WB decision | | | JAMMU | FEB 14 President Praja Parshid (PP) Chander Mohan Sharma to the pressure of World Bank (W.B) on reduction of height of Baghllar Project. Although the World Bank neutral expert Richard Lafitte has rejected the objections raised by Pakistan over various aspects of execution of the Hydro Project being constructed on River Chenab but at the same time the reduction of the height of the dam will rendered it under capacitated and semi functional. According to press release has said that during the execution of Salal Project then Janta regime in the centre had ordered the reduction of height dam of Salal Project is not generating power as per the target fixed at the time of its layout, besides this the silt and like other problems are hampering the utility of the project.
Sharma asked Prime Minister not to succumb to the pressure of World Bank and let the Baligar Project be completed s per original plans. He further said that Pakistan constructed Mangla Dam Project on India Land i.e. Mirpur presently under the illegal occupation of Pakistan, but unfortunately India has failed to stop Pakistan. Nor it could mobilize world opinion against it. He said party may resort to demonstrations if attempts is made by the government to reduce the height of Baligar Project.
