JAMMU, Nov 29: Quarterfinals position has been cleared with the entry of Delhi University (DU) in the last eight stages of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor's Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at University of Jammu ground, here today. Now, in the quarterfinals, scheduled for tomorrow, host University of Jammu shall take on HP University Shimla while defending championship, Kashmir University shall meet Delhi University. In other quarterfinals, MANUU Hyderabad shall be playing against PAU Ludhiana and University of Pune shall face SKUAST Kashmir. Earlier, in two remaining league matches played today, Delhi University attained the peak by scoring the highest total of the tournament to make it a big 46 runs victory over MDSU University Ajmer thus confirmed their berth in the knock-out stages. The MDSU Ajmer had already obtained four points, but on the basis of higher average earned by DU through today's match, former crushed out of the competition. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, DU set a big total of 212 runs losing just one wicket. The game had another first with Dev Singh hitting the first unbeaten century making 101 runs off just 59 balls. Sanjay and Hari Mehta contributed 52 and 40 runs to the total respectively. In reply, MDSU could make 166 runs for five wickets in allotted 20 overs. Surinder and Mukesh were main contributors to the score with 60 and 40 runs in their respective accounts. Roshan Lal bagged two wickets from DU. Meanwhile, in another group-B match, Jamia Milia Islamia University Delhi registered a four wickets win over GNDU Amritsar. Batting first, GNDU set a target of 167 runs for three, which, in reply, Jamia Milia chased in 19 overs for the loss of six wickets. Varinder remained top scorer from GNDU with 54-ball 74 runs and Amandeep added 30 runs. Yusuf took two wickets from Jamia Milia. In reply, Jamia Milia attained the target making 169 runs in 19 overs with four wickets in hand. Adeel Ahmed and Mohd Yousuf made highest 57 and 55 runs respectively. Keshav and Jagtar bagged two wickets each from GNDU.
