| 'If rebel BJP MLAs support NC in Council polls, doors for rapport will get shut' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 29: In the wake of the recent claims and counter claims within state politics that rebel BJP MLAs may extend support to coalition alliance, political observers had observed if the rebel BJP leaders support the National Conference candidates contesting the ensuing Legislative council election they would seal all possibilities of a reconciliation with the parent body. Sources within BJP revealed that the NC leadership has been in touch with the BJP MLAs, who have been expelled from the party for their antiparty activities by indulging in cross voting during the previous Legislative council election. "For the expelled BJP MLAs it would be just a wheel turning full circle in the sense that it was during the previous Legislative council poll that seven BJP MLAs were expelled and it would be again during the ensuing Legislative council election that their fate may either witness a spin or crash, they said. During the last one year the rebel BJP leaders have tried their best to persuade the party high command to revoke the suspension order. They tried first reconciliatory measures to motivate the party high command to woo them back and when their efforts got failed they embarked on coercive measures even by floating a new party and by threatening to lure several thousand party workers to their side. They added, "This coercive method has been adopted for the ensuing Legislative Council election when they started hobnobbing with the NC leadership by assuring them they would support their candidates.' BJP sources further said that the party high command may not get influenced by the pressure tactics of the rebels. Instead it would watch the developments. Once the party high command is convinced that the rebel BJP MLAs did not support the NC candidates it may review the suspension notice. In that case chances for the rebel BJP MLAs to return to the party fold may get brighter. However, in case these rebels supported the NC candidates during the forthcoming Council election the doors for reconciliation between the rebels and the party high command would be shut for the future. |
