| MLA criticizes Police functioning in Doda | | | Early Times Report
Doda, Nov 29: MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, today, criticized functioning of few police officers in Doda constituency; who often, are, found to be indulging in corrupt practices and intimidation of innocent villagers. One such police functionary, posted as chowki Incharge at Police Chowki Bhagwah, has let loose reign of terror; openly demanding money from innocent villagers and arresting them on false charges. One Joginder, a prominent Sarpanch from Panchayat Bhagwa 'A' was arrested yesterday on false charges of having illegally stored cement bags in his house meant for government works. In fact, those cement bags were properly issued to the arrested Sarpanch after release of Indent in his favour by the Rural Development Department.
In past, also, a number of complaints have been received against the Incharge of Police Chowki Bhagwah. Even, one Fouji from Sazan area and One Gh. Mohi-u-Din a Block President from Ganika had, in recent past, made complaints with the district police higher authorities against the said chowki Incharge ; but, unfortunately no action was taken against him and the said chowki incharge continued with his corrupt practices of extortions and intimidation of rural masses living in this remote & backward region. It seems that the said chowki Incharge has become a powerful source of money for few of his superiors. Demanding an immediate action against the Incharge of Police Chowki Bhagwah Abdul Majid Wani has strongly warned such police officers for their corrupt practices and urged upon them to immediately stop their malpractices and work to ensure safety of innocent masses by providing them a secured & a crime free environment. Abdul Majid Wani exhorted people not to get agitated and adopt principals of non violence and peaceful resistance to fight against discrimination, unwanted hegemony and anti people attitude of few police functionaries in Doda. |
