| Lt. Gen Sapru flags off cycle-rally | | COS celerating 96th anniversary today | | JAMMU FEB14 The Corps of Signals will be celebrating its 96th Anniversary tomorrow. A plethora of activities are being organized by Signallers to commemorate the occasion. The Corps has conducted a number of adventure activities in the past like hang gliding, white water rafting, trekking expedition and camel safari. To promote adventure and espirit-de-cops, the Cycle rally is yet another endeavour by Signals. Lt Gen TK Sapru, GOC 16 Corps flagged off the cycle rally today organized under aegis of 16 Corps Signals and conducted by 27 Mountain Divisional Signal Regiment. The expedition led by Lt Manojit Sinha included one officer, one JCO and seven personnel of other ranks. The expedition started from Nagrota and l and would pass through Jammu, Samba, Mamun, Shahpur, Ahlilal Mandi, Bilaspur, Shimla before returning back to the headquarters. The expedition aims at fostering the spirit of adventure, re-ignite espirit-de-corps and sense of belongingness amongst ex-servicemen located in smaller towns. The participants would hold rallies enroute and give ex-servicemen information on various welfare measures and projects being undertaken by the Indian Army. Enroute, the ralllyist would visit to schools to motivate the students to join the Armed Forces, a Defence hand out said. The cycle expedition after traversing the rough and rugged mountainous terrain of Jammu and Kashmir, the plains of Punjab and climbs of Himachal Pradesh would reach Shimla on February 21.
