Kathua, Aug. 1: Continuing its offensive against the drug peddlers, Kathua Police, recovered some psychotropic substance from a person, which was being smuggled into the state, from a neighbouring state, disclosed a press release issued here by it. The police, according to the release, intercepted a Haryana Roadways Bus at Jatwal, today, late in the morning and arrested one Hajrat Ali S/O Showkat Ali Jammu R/O Janipur, Jammu, who looked suspicious. On rigorous questioning, the suspect revealed two parcels, resembling those used by post office. These contained 50 00 capsules of Polyvon Spas enclosing Dextropropoxyphane-a banned psychotropic drug. This and many such other drugs are easily available in Madhopore, Pathankote, Sujanpur – towns of neighbouring Punjab where Drug control seems to be lax, according to the release, adding that these drugs are very cheap there but people sell them at exorbitant prices. According to the release this is the fourth consignment of drugs the police during the past month, which contained 70 00 capsules / 270 bottles of Corex and 97 Kg. of charas. The Police Party was headed by SDPO Border Jugal Kishore and assisted by I / C PP Jatwal Sarabjeet Singh.
