| Urdu University demanded | | | Jammu, February 15 The executive committee of the Kashmir Society has in its meeting held at Jammu emphasised for the need of establishment of Urdu University in J&K State the meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to culture, literature and other allied organisational matters. The meeting took strong exception over the decision of educational authorities of reducing the inclusion of Urdu language in subject combination system for different colleges. The members present in the meeting spoke at length about the importance of Urdu language and its traditional ethos of centuries old history. Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad was felicitated for taking bold decision for launching Urdu University in the state. It was impressed upon all the educational authorities especially Pro Chancellor of Kashmir University and Jammu University and other universities of the state to personally intervene in the matter and make foolproof arrangement of inclusion of Urdu language in the subject curriculum of all the three regions of the state for its development and expansions. It was also emphasized to propagate Urdu through print and electronic media by broadcasting/telecasting various programmes in Urdu language. It is pertinent to mention here that the Secretary of the Society Mr. Mohammad Rafi Khan called on vice chancellor Kashmir University, Prof. Ab Wahid and apprised him about the matter in detail. Prof. Wahid assured Mr Rafi of all out help by the Kashmir University in this behalf and express his overwhelming enthusiasm in propagation of the language. |
