Over 40,000 devotees pay obeisance at Shiv Khori

UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 16
Over 40,000 pilgrims from within and outside the state paid their obeisance at Lord Shiva Cave Shrine Shiv Khori, about three kilometer away from Ransoo which is the base camp of pilgrimage on the occasion of Maha Shivratri and heave influx of devotees is still continuing to attend the historic Shiv Khori Mela.
The ongoing Shiv Khori festival is being organized by the Shree Shiv Khori Shrine Board and J&K Tourism Department to attract the large number of visitors from within and outside the state.
The Shiv Khori Shrine Board has made elaborate arrangements for the yatris like additional yatra slip counters, transport, medicare, drinking water, electricity, security, blankets besides clock rooms has also been set up at Ransoo and at cave to meet the requirement of the visiting pilgrims.
To ensure quality and fixed rates of various essential commodities at the base camp and enroute Shiv Khori, the District Development Commissioner Udhampur who is also the Chairman of Shiv Khori Shrine Board has constituted special squads.
On the occasion, District Information Centre Udhampur organized a folk cultural show for the entertainment of visitors and general public in which renowned folk singers and dancers, Mr Ram Ditta and party presented different forms of folk songs and dances which were highly appreciated by the spectators. Devotional songs presented by the artists of the department and Mr Pardeep Mehra was also received loud applause from across the audience.
In addition to cultural programme, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur arranged various rural sports events on the occasion at village Ransoo to promote sports activities in this far-flung area of Udhampur district.
Various social and voluntary organizations from Udhampur, Rajouri, Jammu and even from outside the state like Punjab and Utter Pradesh have arranged free langers for devotees during this magnificent event.
