| Mehbooba leaves for Doha | | | Jammu, February 15 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and Member Parliament, Mehbooba Mufti today left for Doha, Qatar to attend the 4th U.S-Islamic World Forum conclave commencing Saturday. She is the first Kashmiri politician invited ever to speak at this prestigious global conference on the relations between the Islam and the West. Hosted by the Brookings Institute USA in collaboration with the Saban Center for Middle East Policy and the Government of Qatar, the conclave would commence on February 17, 2007 at the Qatari capital Doha. The theme of the 2007 US-Islamic World Forum is "Confronting what divides us". The objective is to discuss the dangerous tension that has built up between the United States and the world's Muslim states and communities today and to build up an actionable program for governments and the civil society to confront the challenge. Global leaders, policymakers, key political figures, NGO leaders, cultural icons and opinion-shapers from the United States and Muslim world will engage in three days of meetings from February 17 to February 19 to share their ideas on various issues and challenges confronting the relations between the cotemporary Muslim world and the West. This annual dialogue has become the premiere convening body for American and Muslim world leaders in the fields of politics, business, media, academia, science, arts, and civil society. The conference serves as a platform to convene and catalyze positive action towards the challenges facing the Muslim world.
