| Mulayam 'exploiting' Muslims: Bukhari | | |
MUZAFFARNAGAR (UP): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has been "exploiting" the Muslims for the interest of his Samajwadi Party and in return did nothing for the welfare of the community, Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmad Bukhari alleged on Friday.
Bukhari, who is patron of the newly formed United Democratic Front, claimed that political parties have been using the Muslims as "catapult" to capture power in Uttar Pradesh.
"This is the right time for us to be united and make our presence felt in view of the coming assembly polls in the state," he told reporters here.
Asking the youths to join UDF, Bukhari said it was constituted for Muslim unity and to work for the cause of poor irrespective of their castes and religion.
The UDF would contest the polls in an alliance with secular parties, he said adding the UDF would start rallies in western UP from February 20.
