| After PDP, NC demands demilitarization | | | Jammu, Feb 17 After coalition partner People’s Democratic Party, National Conference has also advocated for withdrawal of troops from Jammu and Kashmir terming the situation as 'conducive' for such a step. National Conference president Omar Abdullah while following the foot steps of its arc rival in the Valley PDP told media persons that the improvement in the situation demands withdrawal of troops for making it more conducive. Putting across the view point of his party, Omar said that considering the gradual improvement in the situation in various parts of the state, the troops should be called back from such areas adding that continuing with the presence of the troops in the sate would not go well with the improvement in the situation. Asserting that his party would put all its weight for exposing the Human Rights violations in the state, he said that NC would seek stern action against all those involved in the innocent killings. He said, their demand for judicial probe in fake encounters has come in the absence of effective working of the State Human Rights Commission. “Had the Commission been working properly, we would no have pressed for judicial probe”, he added. |
