Prompt disposal of cases imperative for speedy justice: Justice Khan

A Judicial Academy Complex is being constructed at Srinagar with latest facilities in which judges, judicial officers and lawyers would be imparted requisite training about latest trends in judicial set up. A similar Academy has already been set up in Jammu where 150 judicial officers were provided training. The training facilities could be extended to judiciary officers of other states as well. For creating infrastructural facilities in judicial system in the state , a massive construction programme has been launched during past one and a half year mobilizing and arranging a hefty sum of Rs One hundred crore with the fullest cooperation of state government.
Stating this today after laying foundation stone of court building of Principal District and Session Judge, Baramulla coming up at a cost of Rs. 61.39 lakh, Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Mr Justice Bashir Ahmed Khan called upon the judicial officers and other employees to be prompt in disposal of cases to provide speedy justice to the people. He said for quick disposal of priority sector cases like matrimonial, motor accident etc, the judicial officers have been asked to submit their action plan in this regard adding a Mega Lok Adalat is being convened in Srinagar in the first week of March this year. He said by convening such a Mega Lok Adalat at Jammu, about 16000 cases were settled recently. He reaffirmed commitment that the judicial system would be rejunivated and the judicial officers and staff would be taught the new trends which will go a long way to provide speedy justice at low expenditure to people. .The network of judiciary overall the state, he said has increased manifold and to further strengthen the system latest techniques and methods are being adopted and computerization of the system is being started in a phased manner.
Mr Justice Khan said that through Information Technology all the decided cases would be put on internet so that the litigants and other interest parties can download the same to see the directions themselves at their places involving low costs. He said prompt and good governance was essential for people’s welfare and judiciary has played a vital role. He said in the rehabilitation of earthquake victims very effective measures were taken .Similarly, public interest litigants like restoration of pristine glory of Dal Lake, setting right the transport system, providing of convenience for children in schools etc were taken up on priority. He emphasized that every work taken in hand should be time bound and people friendly.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla gave a resume of improvements made in various spheres and announces that uninterrupted power supply would be provided for the complex.
Present on the occasion were Principal Secretary to Chief Justice, Registrar General, Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla, District officers, Judges, judicial officers and prominent citizens.
