| EX-Servicemen resolve to make New Year a Happy Year | | | Sandhya Jain | 1/1/2013 11:19:42 PM |
| early times report Jammu, Jan 1: While welcoming the New Year, the Ex-Servicemen have resolved to rise against the crimes against women and try to undo whatever has gone wrong in 2012. Ex-Servicemen have decided to help all the law abiding people and the agencies to enforce discipline, the hallmark of the soldiers. Veterans have also decided to take up these issues at all levels so that Indian Society can be protected from immoral deeds as are being witnessed everyday in the Country. It was decided in a Meeting held today under the President of the J&K Ex-Services League, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal at its Head Office Ambphalla, Jammu that the Ex-Servicemen in the State will educate the public and civil society and also provide all assistance to prevent such immoral incidents and also report and help the Govt. and the law enforcing Agencies to deal with this menace. The Ex-Servicemen also showed their disappointment about the Govt's dealing with the award of One Rank One Pension and playing with their sentiments which they think is cheating them. They demand that the aim of One Rank One Pension was to compensate the Veterans who retire very young and are debarred from earning full pensions and gratuities and other benefits at par with their Civil counterparts. While in service they give their best to the Country and never bother about their service or post retirement emoluments which they leave to the Govt. who have to take care of them which is not happening. Even in the latest Govt. Order of 27 Dec 2012 the Govt. has discriminated against the Pre 1986 retirees who have not been given the benefit of the rank pay which is against the concept of One Rank One Pension. The Veterans have resolved to fight for Justice during 2013. Wishing all the Veterans and their families a Happy New Year. |
