2/17/2007 10:30:48 PM

BHADARWAH, Feb 16
J&K State Watal /Mochi Association President Abdul Gani Sheikh has strongly pleaded for granting Scheduled Tribe status to the community members .This demand was made when a deputation of the Association called on the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here recently.
He alleged that no government in the past has paid any heed towards the demands of the community members as a result of which they continue to live a miserable life with little source of income. He said granting Scheduled Tribe to the community would go a long way in improving their socio economic conditions and also pleaded for reservation in appointments and professional colleges as also in the Advisory Board.
The Association in a hand out claimed that the Chief Minister had assured the deputation to consider their demands sympathetically
