Two Sundays back, news of one bestial act hijacked the complete media. In our National Capital, a 23-year old young girl 'Damini' was gang-raped by six miscreants in a moving bus and was later brutally assaulted. It was such a heinous episode that learning this I was mum and ashamed. The whole nation stood together for the cause of bringing the perpetrators to justice, except our elected government, whose gestures appeared more hypocritical rather than sincere. During her treatment the victim kept on fighting with her life - nation gave her the name 'BRAVEHEART'. The braveheart, who underwent three surgeries, had damaged internal organs in the assault. She also suffered a cardiac arrest and brain injury. At last, she lost the battle on 29th of December.Does the story end here? We need to introspect ourselves. After all, who is going to be blamed? I feel it is 'WE'. We are the society, we make the politicians, we practice corruption, and we do everything which is NOT actually acceptable. Most importantly, we prefer western culture to our own sanskriti, which has actually deteriorated our soul. We weigh our cinema on the basis of sex provoking scenes. The advertisements being run on the televisions also get supported with the sensitive scenes. We are NOT nurturing our children with the education having moral values. We are, in fact, qualifying them. We feel happy to see them browsing the internet and interacting through facebook, but have we ever bothered to check their clicks on the cyber? They are moving towards destruction. We have tried to clone the western society in our family/our living style. But, we have NOT cloned their affection for work. They are workaholics, they know the value of vote, they love their nation more than themselves, their government and opposition come together at the time of distress AND law there actually means justice to the innocent. So, what does today's Bharat, which once used to be known for 'Ram Rajya', lack? If WE don't introspect now or leave this country as it is, then, be ready for another braveheart to be sacrificed - she may be your sister/daughter or mine. We need to feel the presence of Damini in our conscience.
