A District Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit was apprehended by Police from village Khillan in Pahalgam area this afternoon and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition from his possession.
According to reports, acting on specific information, District Police Anantnag this afternoon arrested one Mohammed Shafi Chowhan alias Moulvi, son of Soba Chowhan of Khillan Gujran, Pahalgam from Khillan Pahalgam and recovered huge quantity of arms-ammunitions including two AK-47 rifles, five Magazines, three Anti Personnel Mines, five UBGL’s, two Stick Grenades, one Grenade Thrower, 1230 AK rounds, 1300 Pica rounds, five IED Remote Devices, 15 Kgs of IED and ten Detonators.
According to sources, the arrested militant was a District commander of LeT and active in the area from past some time. He was also wanted in number of cases of crime in different police stations.
