| 3-day J&K Exhbition begins at Delhi | | Departments of Tourism, Information, Handicrafts, Horticulture & Handloom showcase paradise valley through landmark festival | | JAMMU, FEBRUARY 18 It was captivating and magnificent presentation of art, culture, fruits and tourist destinations at New Delhi, Press Club of India where galaxy of intellectuals, prominent citizens and journalists had assembled. The Directors of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department Mr. Ajay Khajuria and Mr. Farooq Shah through their presentation of tourists spots of three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh gave panoramic look of paradise existing on earth. The stalls of horticulture, handicrafts and handicrafts departments were centre focus of the festival. One of the attractive and captivating part of the festival was photo exhibition of the international standard organized by the department of Information including a presentation of Sofiana Cultural Programme which influenced the whole audience. While inaugurating Minister for Finance, Planning and Law Affairs, Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra inaugurated Jammu and Kashmir Food and Cultural Festival at Press Club of India in New Delhi yesterday. The festival is aimed at giving an opportunity to the state to project itself nationally and internationally. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Karra thanked the press club members in providing a plat form to showcase the state and said that the people of India have a collective responsibility towards bringing peace and normalcy back to the state. He made a fervent appeal to the journalistic community to project J&K in the right perspective without blowing things out of proportion. Mr. Karra also spoke of the strides his government achieved in the field of Tourism, Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handloom. President, Press Club of India Mr. Rahul Jalali highlighting aims and objectives behind arranging such festivals stated that the first kind of such festival was organized sometime back for the state of Andhra Pradesh and J&K is the second in the row. He said such festivals for other states too would be organized to showcase the state and to highlight the developmental scenario in various fields of human endeavor. Mr Jalali had a high word of appreciation of the tremendous contributions of Mr. Karra in bringing the shattered economy of the state back on rails. He referred to Mr. Karra as a young, dynamic, committed and a polished political worker who toiled hard to bring substantive economic development and in restoring peace and tranquility in the strife torn state. Veteran J&K Journalists Mr. Shahid Majid, Mr. Pushap Sharaf, Mr. Sat Paul Sahni and Mr. Pran Nath Jalali were presented mementos and citations for their outstanding role in the field of journalism particularly in shaping the modern history of J&K. |
