Jashn-I-Roshni Act celebrated at Rajpora
State enjoys Self-rule right: Mangat

Jammu, February 18
Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma today said that government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has taken revolutionary steps by setting up 8 new districts and legislation of Roshni Act, which will provide ownership to over 13 lakh families of the state on 16 lakh kanals of government land.
The Minister was addressing a huge public gathering assembled to celebrate Jashan-e-Roshni Act at Rajpura here today.
Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Rural Development Department Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma, former MLA Mr. Shivdev Singh were present.
Elaborating people friendly steps taken by the government Mr. Sharma said that Roshni Act will provide ownership on agriculture land free of cost to the farmers while as in urban areas government land occupied by the people will be handed over to them on nominal charges. The proprietary rights under LB 6-7 will also be given to the occupants. He said 24 un-authorized colonies has also been regularized in Jammu west besides, upgradation of various school colleges and setting up of universities in various regions to give scientific and modern education to the students. He said that a comprehensive water supply plan for next 20 years has been prepared and for this purpose Rs 1500 crore has been sanctioned by the Central Government. Similarly Rs 1500 crore project under economic reconstruction programme for streamlining sewerage and drainage system in the city is also strong consideration. Various new road projects have been taken in hand to ensure road connectivity which is deemed to be the backbone of the economic progress of the state. Under Power sector, number of new projects have been initiated and some of them are nearing completion resulting in improvement in the power infrastructure in the state.
Mr. Sharma said people from all sections of the society have hailed the decisions of the Azad government and different voices alleging discrimination on one pretext or the other stopped forthwith. He said the results of people friendly decisions are emerging everywhere and people felt improvement in every sphere of life.
Referring to some slogans of different political parties Mr. Sharma said that Chief Minister has already announced that demilitarization and self-rule cannot be implemented unless restrictions are imposed on trans-border terrorism. He said, the state is already enjoying self-rule right from grass root level as local bodies and panchayats, municipalities and legislative assemblies having people’s representatives elected during free and fair elections in which majority of the population franchised their right to votes.
Mr. Jugal Kishore said that historical steps taken by the government spread a joy and enthusiasm among various sections of the society. He said in addition, government has set up tourism development authorities for various places of tourist attraction all over the state especially Jammu region which was totally neglected by the previous regimes. He said over all scenario of economic development has been changed and work culture introduced in the government institutions, which make easy access of the common man to Civil Secretariat, main administrative head offices of the government and other offices for early disposal of routine work.
Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora said that steps taken by the present government are widely appreciated by one and all. He said under the able guidance of the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad state would flourish and fulfill the expectations and aspirations of the common man. He said earlier, the land reform act was introduced and surplus land from big landowners was transferred to the tillers but now the government land was given to the poorer farmers free of cost. He said the state receives flow of financial assistance from the centre due to the good relations and long experiences of Mr. Azad in the central politics.
Former MLA Thakur Shivdev Singh, Corporators and block Presidents of Congress also addressed the gathering.
