| Kamaljeet bags Ransoo Kesari title | | | UDHAMPUR, FEB 18
Kamaljeet Akhada Doom Sheedi Ropal Panjab has lifted the 9th Shiv Khori Kesari Vishal Dangal Ransoo 2007 title beating Gurvinder Singh of Akhada Golbagh stadium Amritsar in a tough bout that lasted for 34 minutes at Ransoo in tehsil Reasi of the Udhampur district yesterday.
As part of historic Shiv Khori Mela , Dangal was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with Tourism department.
Tehsildar Reasi, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma was the chief guest of the event while Tehsildar Settlement, Reasi (Mela Officer) Mr. R.C.Tripathi, District Information Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Naib Tehsildar Pouni, Mr. Sushil Kesar and Bansi Lal Sharma retired ZEO were the guest of hounors.
Kamaljeet was awarded a cash prize of Rs.3000/- with traditional silver gurj while Gurvinder Singh got Rs,2000/
In all 55 bouts took place in the dangal. The second main bout was fought in between Harpal Singh of Amritsar and Raju of Delhi which ended in a draw and both were given Rs.1100/- each while third bout was fought in between Puran of Amritsar and Beniabeen of Basantgarh area of Ramnagar tehsil which also ended in a draw and both were given Rs.750/- each.
Over 10,000 people of Ransoo and adjoining areas witnessed the event. The J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association President Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma and District President Mr. Sardari Lal thanked all the departments for their whole hearted cooperation in organization of this dangal.
An amount of Rs.50,000 was expended for holding of this event which include Rs.30,000 by Tourism department, Rs.20,000 by Amar Memorial Trust, Katra and traditional malies by locals. |
