| Police visit coaching centres, want 'separate classes for boys, girls' | | | Srinagar: Choas and confusion was witnessed at Parrypora today when Police allegedly made surprise visits to various tuition centres instructing the owners of the centres to do away with co-education and manage separate classes for boys and girls. However, police have denied reports while Director School Education said that the owners of the centres have been asked to register their centres within 15 days. Locals say, Police visited various coaching centres in Parrypora Baghat and instructed the owners to arrange separate classes for boys and girls. They added during this time chaos and confusion spread the area as some students and teachers could be seen running away from the centres. "Police directed tuitions point owners to have separate classes for boys and girls and to get registered from the competent authority", said Sources. However, police denied the reports saying that the Police party from the Police Station sadder visited the locality to check illegal parking. "Police team was to check parking of private vehicles and to check the unnecessary presence of youth who cause nuisance to general public. We're ensuring free movement of people in the area and any one being found violating the laws will be dealt strictly under law", said one of the officers of the concerned Police station. He said that no tuition centre owner was given any direction, adding, "But if we get any such orders or direction from the higher authority, we're ready to do that". Appealing parents to cooperate for the better discipline in coaching centres, Director Education Mohammad Shafi Rather said that a meeting was held with the private coaching centre owners and were directed to get registered within 15 days. "In that meeting, they were directed to make satisfactory arrangements including heating arrangements for the students. We have also set up the special team to make it (tuition process) more disciplined in Srinagar and other districts of Valley", said Rather. |
