IGP asks cops to remain alert as Republic Day nears

Jammu, Jan 8: With Republic Day just two weeks away, Jammu's Inspector General of Police Dilbag Singh today exhorted cops that it was time to become extremely vigilant and alert as the upcoming celebration was not far away.
"It is time to remain extremely vigilant and alert during the coming Republic Day celebration," Singh told officers during a high level meeting to review law and order situation in the region.
"For the celebration to be peaceful, it is imperative to launch sustained offencive against the anti-national, anti-social elements and terrorists who are operating in upper reaches of various districts," he added.
A review for 4th quarter of last year was held under the chairmanship of IGP with Range DIGs and District SSPs of Jammu Zone in attendance.
Maintenance of law and order, prevention of crime, speedy investigation, disposal of cases, adequate attention to public grievances on day-to-day basis, special attention to public importance cases and strengthening police-public were the core issues discussed in the meeting.
