EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 8 : A meeting of J&K Plus 2 Lecturers' Forum was held under the chairmanship of its State President N S Jamwal in the central office of the organization, in which all the tehsil heads of Jammu District and core-members participated. The meeting discussed problems being faced by the lecturer community in particular and the teaching community in general and decided to support the strike call given by Joint Consultative Committee (JCC). Speaking in the meeting the members raised voice against the "unnecessary" delay in issuance of formal orders of regularizations of 14 subjects for which the screening committee met on October 11, 2012. They appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for intervention to redress the problems like issuance of formal orders of regularization of incharge lecturers as lecturers, sanction of running pattern in favour of lecturers, non vocational status in favour of principals and higher incentives in favour of lectures having higher qualifications like M Phil and Ph.D. Speaking on occasion Jamwal appealed to the Commissioner-Secretary Education and Director School Education for filling-up of vacant posts of principals and lecturers at earliest as most of the schools are running short of teaching staff. "The shortage of staff in the schools is the only reason for the poor results in Secondary and Higher Secondary classes," they added. Jamwal stressed that re-organization of the School Education department is the need of the hour.
