Early Times Report
rajouri, Jan 8: Putting question mark on the working of Labour Departments in Rajouri and Poonch, the Bar Association Rajouri has alleged that Government has given the charge of Assistant Labour Commissioner of both the districts to a Labour Inspector who is inefficient to carry out the work especially court cases which are pending in the Labour Court for the last 2 years adding sufferings to the people of this region.
Addressing a press conference here today, Secretary of Bar Association Advocate Vibodh Gupta along with Bar members viz Advocate Naseem Liaqet, Advocate Vivek Gupta, Advocate Qamar Zaman, Advocate Ahsan Mirza, Advocate Khaliq Firdous, Advocate Ajay Gupta, Advocate Rajesh Sharma and Advocate Inderjeet Sharma said that the post of Assistant Labour
Commissioner is vacant in Rajouri and Poonch districts and the court cases and other works are pending which are adding miseries to the people who had approached the Labour department for compensations.
Advocate Vibodh Gupta said that the department has turned defunct and it is shame that government has posted an inefficient Labour Inspector to deal the cases of Assistant Labour Commissioner.
He said that Labour Inspector is working in Poonch in the capacity of Assistant Labour Commissioner and the same who is incapable and ineligible have been given the additional charge of district Rajouri also.
Gupta said that it is also strange that the Labour Inspector who is acting as Assistant Labour Commissioner is demanding bribe from the Advocates to dispose off the cases pending in the Court which must be investigated.
The Bar Secretary said that due to corrupt practices of the Incharge Assistant Labour Commissioner, Bar Advocates have boycotted the Labour Court from December 15 last and the boycott will be continued till government will not depute full fledged Assistant Labour Commissioner in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Demanding immediate action in the matter, Bar has said that according to the rule, a Labour Court must dispose off the cases within 6 months when a applicant approaches it but cases in this court are pending for the last 2 years which is violation of government rules.
