Legal Metrology fines Rs 10,000 to manufacturer for violations of rules 1/9/2013 1:06:44 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 8: Continuing with their efforts to enforce mandatory declarations on the prepacked commodities for the protection of consumers' interest, the department of Legal Metrology today realized a fine of Rs 10000/- from M/s J. L. Morison marketing chain partner for sale of Equal Sucra, a sugar free commodity for the diabetic consumers for not adhering to the guidelines prescribed under rules for declararing Net Contents. According to Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Enforcement, Manoj Prabhakar,the Packaged Commodity Rules specifies the procedure to write mandatory declarations on the Principal Display Panel so that it is legible to the consumers.
