| Jagti migrants protest, demand rehabilitation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 8: The Jagti Tenement Committee led by its President Shadi Lal Pandita held a protest rally at Jagti Nagrota on Tuesday to press for its demands of regular supply of electricity, enhancement of the cash relief, permanent rehabilitation in the valley and for implementing the Prime Minister's Employment Package in toto. Large number of migrant inmates of Jagti township participated in the protests. Pandita accused that the government had been giving step motherly treatment to migrants at Jagti. "18 hour power cut daily causes has caused immense hardships for the migrants. Despite continuous protests for the enhancement of the cash relief the government has so far shown a cold shoulder when the poor migrants are facing all odds and hardships," he said. Pandita added that the KP migrants have been demanding for the permanent rehabilitation at a safe and single place in the valley "but the government for all these 23 years has been delaying the same on one pretext or the other." "It is horrible that despite of the employment package for the migrants having been granted by the centre under Prime Minister's employment package till date the same has not been provided in total," he said.
