| Samjhauta Express blast-widely condemned as "heinous acts of terrorism" by both separatist and mainstream parties, | | | Srinagar, Feb 19 The blasts on Samjhauta Express train leaving at least 66 people dead and scores of others injured have been widely condemned as "heinous acts of terrorism" by both separatist and mainstream parties, though the parties differed in their stance over the possible motives behind the blast. Hardline separatist leader and chairman of his faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani termed the blasts as "Heinous acts of terrorism and inhuman acts that can not be committed by normal people." About the possible motives behind the blast, Geelani, in a statement issued by his faction of the conglomerate here said "There is no deficiency of extremists in India who can go to any extent to fulfill their nefarious designs." Geelani also said that concerned agencies had failed in past to show impartiality in investigating such acts of crime. Condemning the blasts, the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has, however, linked the blasts with an effort to disrupt the ongoing peace process. "It seems that efforts are being made to create anger amongst people during the visit of Pakistan foreign minister, Khursheed Mahmood Kasuri, who is visiting India for a dialogue about Kashmir issue," a statement issued here by the moderate faction said. The statement added that it was very unfortunate that such elements get activated around the time when certain concrete steps are taken towards the resolution of Kashmir issue. Largest party in the opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Legislature, National Conference, termed the blasts an act that aims to disrupt peace and confidence building between India and Pakistan. "Certain groups do not resist playing with the lives of innocent people to carry out their nefarious designs. The case should be investigated and people responsible for such a heinous crime be brought to book," a statement by the opposition party quoted party patron, Dr. Farooq Abdullah as saying
