| Five Hizb militants, soldier killed | | | SRINAGAR, AUGUST 2: Five militants and a soldier were killed in different militancy related incidents across the valley since Tuesday evening, police and reports said Wednesday. According to the reports reaching here, a soldier and two militants owning allegiance to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant outfit were killed in a fierce encounter that erupted between militants and troops at Mughal Maidan area of Doda district early Wednesday. Official sources said that on a tip off about the presence of militants in the Mughal Maidan forest belt of Doda, troops and police launched a joint operation and in the ensuing encounter which followed after militants opened fire at them (troops), two militants of HM and a soldier were killed. In another incident, one militant was killed in an encounter between militants and troops at Kadoora in Bandipora district of North Kashmir late last night. Sources said that on some specific information about the presence of militants, troops launched a cordon-search operation in the area and when they were about to storm inside a residential house, militant hiding in the house attacked them (troops) which they retaliated. In the fire fight which ensued, one militant belonging to HM militant out fit was killed. The slain militant has been identified as Abdul Rashid of Tarsoo Sopore. In yet an other incident at tral in south Kashmir, two militants of HM were killed however is was not confirmed whether the militants were killed in accidental circumstance or were killed in an encounter as Rashtriya Riffles (RR) and CRPF hold different views on the context. According to the PRO army, two militants, traveling in a Tata mobile, fired up a picket of BSF at Kamala area of Tral and tried to flee away from the spot, however troops from 44 RR intercepted them and gunned them down. But PRO CRPF, Dalip Singh told KPS that militants, five in number, were engaged in mending IED, which exploded accidentally killing two militants on the spot The deceased militants were identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat alias Tufail and Akbar Bhai of Utter Pradesh. He added that, three others escaped and went into a village. He also said that troops from 53 battalion, BSF later cordoned off the area launched a search operation to nab the militants and search operations are going on.
