5-day artificial limb fitment camp begins

As part of its on going civic action program undertaken by the Bhimber Gali Brigade, a five day Artificial Limb Fitment Camp organized by Hamirpur Battalion was inaugurated by Brigadier IS Singha Commander Bhimber Gali Brigade.
Army Officials and civilian dignitaries attended the inaugural function. The camp was organized to replace and refit the limbs already provided to the disabled persons of the area in the past.
On the initiative of Bhimber Gali Brigade, the NGOs, which maintain an Artificial Limb Repair Centre at Poonch, agreed to repair and replace the artificial limb of the disabled people of the local areas. The trusts have been rendering yeoman service to the disabled people in the region of Poonch and Rajouri.
This camp will benefit nearly 300 disabled locals of Poonch, Rajouri, Naushera and Udhampur districts and few people from the valley. An NGO New Delhi is providing funds for state of the artificial limb like Jaipur foot for this campaign.School children from Pinewood School Hamirpur being run under the aegis of Bhimber Gali Brigade took part in the proceedings and assisted the people. Preparation for the camp commenced nearly one month back and wide publicity was given in the four districts so that maximum local population could benefit from this campaign, The affected civilians from far-flung places of these districts have been transported under the arrangement of Army. The newly inducted DOGRA Battalion in Hamirpur is organizing accommodation and food for the disabled people during their stay at the camp.
Brigadier IS Singha, praised the efforts of NGOs in providing humanitarian assistance to the needy people and assured all assistance for the noble cause. On the occasion, the Commander, Bhimber Gali Brigade inspected the limbs of the disabled persons and lend a helping hand in fitting some limbs, a Defence handout said..
