| “Display Your Talent Contest” 2006-07 | | “Natak Nahin” clinches first prize | | JAMMU | FEB 21 In the ongoing third phase of “Display Your Talent Contest” 2006-07, One Act Play competition was held here in Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. In the competition held today, one act play ‘Natak Nahin’ was adjudged as the best play presented by students of Government College for Women, Gandhinagar. The second prize was bagged by GGM Science College for the play “Coverage” whereas GWC, Parade was awarded third prize for their Dogri play “Suno Eh Kahani”. Bhasha Sumbli and Rameshwari Slathia, who played the role of Bhikari in the play “Natak Nahin” were adjudged as the first and second best actors respectively, while Ifra Mushtaq Kak from GWC, Parade clinched the third prize. Neeraj Sharma, Rishi Kumar and Sarang Vaid in the play “Coverage” secured the first, second and third positions in the best actors award respectively. Certificate of Merit in acting were awarded to Malika from GGM Science College and Vijay and Bhumika from GWC, Udhampur. The plays presented on the occasion highlighted the problems of the society, exploitation by the politicians and role of media towards the society and environmental pollution. M.P. Sharma, Mohan Singh and Sudhir Mahajan were among the adjudicators during the contest. The programme was conducted by Amita Malhotra, Cultural Secretary, whereas Anu Thappa acted as Time Keeper. Others who were present on the occasion included Mukti Talwar, Lovely Sabarwal, Manu Komal, Rajeev Suganda, Tanya, Ambika, Anju, Aziz Jahangir, Sanjeev and Priyanka. Meanwhile, a cultural troupe from Kashmir University led by Niaz Ahmed also visited the auditorium and witnessed the one act play and interacted with the students.
