| Mechanical employees hold dharna | | |

The employees and workers of Mechanical irrigation department in a meeting hold here today discussed various problems being faced by them. As a protest a dharna was held under the presidentship of Krishan Singh Bahu, president of association.
The workers urged upon the higher authorities of the department to hold D.P.C. meeting at an earliest and change the designation of helpers as pump operators.
According to press release, state president of J&K National Trade union Front Mohd Gafoor Dar, while addressing the employees urged upon the authorities of Irrigation Deptt. To settle the genuine demand i.e. change of Designation of Helpers as Pump Operators which the Govt. has agreed in principal and the Committee of Chief Engineers which was appointed for the said purpose has also submitted its recommendations in favour of the Helpers. Dar also said that any further delay will compel the employees of Irrigation Dept. to intensify agitation. Others who address the dharna were Ram Lal, Devi Dass, Lal Chand and Shiv Nath.
