| Sadhotra distributes cheques to orchardists | | | JAMMU FEB-22
National Conference leader and MLA Ajay Sadhotra today presented cheques to seven orchardists of Marh Block as financial assistance for establishment of Shallow Bore wells under Horticulture Technology Mission.
Each cheque of Rs.12500 was presented to the orchardists at a simple function, which was among others, attended by T S Wazir, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo,M A Bukhari legislators and Devinder Rana.
Director Horticulture M S Qasba, who was also present, said that the farmers of Jammu region are taking keen interest in horticulture activities and availing the benefits under the Technology Mission program and other development schemes.
He said that during the current year 100 acres of land has been brought under Strawberry cultivation in the region.
Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu said that 457.55 hectares of land has been brought under fruit cultivation this year while four community tanks, two poly green houses, fourteen shallow bore wells and one farm handling unit has been established in the region during the current fiscal. In addition, one power tiller, tractor and 16 irrigation pumps were distributed amongst the farmers on subsidized rates, he added.
