| Handwara police arrests 3 fake militants | | | Srinagar, February 22
Handwara police has arrested three person belonging to Dangerpora Sopore who were impersonating as militants and indulged in thefts and extortion.
According to the Superintendent of Police Haseeb Mughal police post Choogal was receiving complaints that unidentified armed men were barging in the houses of the locals of Puroo Path and were taking away things both in cash and kind. Acting on these complaints an FIR number 299/2006 under section 392 of RPC was lodged in police station Handwara. After putting in its efforts the Handwara police was successful in nabbing Ashiq Hussain Chopan son of Ghulam Ahmed Chopan and Mohd Iqbal Ganie son of Mohd Rajab Ganie and Muzaffer Ahmed Sheikh Son of Mohd Maqbool all residents of Dangerpora Sopore one person of this gang is still at large.
This notorious gang men would raid the houses with toy guns and radio sets faking these as wireless sets and would seek shelter and food from the householders. Police has recovered a trunk and a suit case filled with dress material probably laid for bride who was stolen by this gang from Janwari Mohalla Sopore.Police is questioning these gang members while people of the affected area have heaved a sigh of relief and have hailed the efforts of police.
