Jammu | Feb 22 The workers of National Conference, (NC) Jammu Urban under the leadership of Chander Mohan Sharma, hold a protest demonstration against Roshni Act at Indra Chowk here today. Addressing the protesters NC Provincial President Ajay Sadhotra said that while announcing Roshni Act last year chief Minister has informed that Rs. 24000 crore will be earned from this roshni Act,but it is unfortunate that it remained a day dream and now under the pressure of National Conference leadership in and outside the Assembly the government was forced to reduce the rates of the agriculture land. He said shall fight for the poor people in making them to have free land for houses and shops. Chander who also addressed the workers said two yard sticks are being adopted by the present Coalition Government in implementing Roshni Scheme in the State. He said as per Roshni Act the Government has decided to charge commercial rates from people of Rural and Urban areas who have constructed their houses on state land since long. Moreover, poor people who have constructed their shops on state land and are earning their livelihood with great difficulty and will not be in a position to pay exorbitant charges.
