| Train blast: Police focuses on seized bottles | | | NEW DELHI: The police are focusing on the make of the bottles which had been kept inside suitcases used to plant bombs in the Samjhuta Express. These bottles carrying either petrol or kerosene had been packed along with the bombs to ignite a fire after the blasts. "All the bottles have the same name on them. The name and quality of these one-litre bottles suggest that these could even be manufactured at home. As of now the manufactures have not been identified,’’ said a police officer, adding that the bottles are also of a ‘peculiar’ shape, the kind of which is not seen in the markets. The Delhi Police have now sought help of their counterparts in several other states for identifying the manufacturers of GAHI PET. "It does seem at this stage that the suitcases were bought at Saharanpur but we believe that the bombs were assembled in Delhi. They would not have taken the risk of carrying the bombs from outside Delhi to the city," he added. Saharanpur had earlier served as the main base of LeT’s commander in India outside J&K, Saleem Salar, who was killed last year in an encounter. Salar motivated hundreds of youths in the area to work for LeT. In fact, even in the 29/10 serial blasts in Delhi, the police had intercepted several calls made by suspected terrorists from Saharanpur to Delhi shortly after the blasts. The police also revealed on Thursday that six suitcases were used to plant bombs in the train.
