| Al-Badr Commander killed, arms recovered | | | Srinagar, Feb 23
Army today claimed to have killed a battalion commander of Al-Bader militant out-fit in Rishinagar, Shopian Pulwama district of south Kashmir. Defence spokesman told that on specific information a search and destroy operation was launched by security forces in general area Rishinagar, Shopian district Pulwama.
He said that a person moving under suspicious circumstances was challenged by the SF troops. On challenging he opened fire which was retaliated by the troops resulting in killing of the militant. He was later identified as Shakeel Ahmed Lone alias Paran son of Bashir Ahmed Lone of Augam, Al-Badr Bn Cdr of Kulgam.
One pistol, one magazine, five rounds of ammunition and one hand grenade were recovered from the slain terrorist.
In another operation, a search column of 7 Rashtriya Rifles along with 162 INF Bn (TA) busted a hideout in the fields of village Panchalthan district Anantnag. The search party recovered one AK-56, one magazine, 20 rounds of AK ammunition, one under barrel grenade launcher grenade.
