| Sericulture Development Department organizes awareness camp | | | ET Plus Report
Nowshera, Mar 3: Department of Sericulture organized awareness camp at Ganaih(Nowshera) today, under centrally sponsored scheme ATMA to aware the farmers of the district about the latest techniques of silkworm rearing and plantation. Radhey Sham Sharma, Vice Chairman of State Advisory of Kissans was the Chief Guest on the occasion. More than 1000 farmers of Sericulture and allied sector participated on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Director, Sericulture Jammu Madan Lal Chadgal said that the Rajouri District is number one district in respect of production of Cocoon crop of the division. The Additional Director briefed about the achievements made in the Jammu Province. He told that 19000 ounces of silkworm seed was reared at farmers level and 602 M. Tonne of Cocoons has been produced by the farmers in the province and an amount of Rs. 772 lakh earned by them. He added that the various centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the department for the benefits of Sericulture farmers. He told that under Catalytic Dev Programme, assistance is provided in shape of planting of Mulberry plants amounting to Rs. 5500 for planting of 300 plants, rearing Kit amounting to Rs. 25,000 . Assistance for construction of rearing house costing Rs. 75,000 in a sharing pattern of 80:10:10 central, state and beneficiary respectively to the farmers. R.K Khajuria, SDM Rajouri, also addressed the general public and the farmer's community. Rajinder Bhagat, Deputy Director, Sericulture Rajouri told that during current year 2.27 lakh Kg Cocoon has being produced of worth Rs.3.25 crore. |
