| 3 yrs RI to accused facing trial in abetment to suicide case | | | ET PLUS REPORT
Jammu, Feb 26 (JNF): 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu YP Bourney awarded three years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 1000 to one Jatinder Kumar @ Madan Lal who was facing trial for the last 13 years in a case of abetment to suicide. After hearing APP Harpal Singh for the state whereas Adv CM Gupta for the accused person, 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu YP Bourney convicted the accused u/s 306 and 354 RPC and awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 5000 u/s 306 RPC and one year for the offence u/s 354 RPC. Court further clarified that both the sentences shall run concurrently and sent the accused District Jail Jammu for serving the sentence. According to case deceased prosecutrix was returning from school being student of 8thclass at that time and when she reached near Bahdhur Khan School on December 4, 1999, the accused caught hold of her from arm and started dragging her with criminal intention. The brothers of deceased intervened who were coming at some distance and caught the accused. However, they could not hold him and the accused managed to flee from the spot. The accused earlier also used to stalk and tease the deceased and failed to bear the insult and humiliation, the prosecutrix ended her life by consuming poisonous substance. A case u/s 306/354 RPC was registered in this matter and challan was presented in the Court on February 4, 2000. |
