Jammu, Mar 2: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged upon the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to announce the pending installment of 9% DA due from January last in favour of both Central and State Government employees and pensioners at the next cabinet meeting. Addressing workers, here at Gandhi Nagar, NMC President, Subash Shastri urged upon governments to fulfillment of long pending demands of employees. Shastri said that the salaried class was facing lot of economic hardship due to high inflation and price rise and the release of DA would be genuine measure to provide some relief to them. "The delayed in release of DA would not only puts burden on the Central Govt. exchequer to liquidate the arrears but also increase the difficulties of both central and state Govt. employees and pensioners, NMC Chief added. Emphasizing on formulation of a National pay policy throughout the country Shastri also demanded setting up of 7th pay commission which would cover both central and state government's employees and pensioners. Shastri pointed out that DA of employees and pensioners has gone up to 72% as it exceeded more than 50% after the release of 7% DA from July last year, hence 50% DA should be merged with basic pay / pension and remaining 22% should be paid in accordance with merged basic salary or pension of employees and pensioners as was commended by 4th pay commission in report accepted by the Union Govt. in 1986. Among others who also spoke on the occasion which included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Rakesh Padha, Anil Singh Slathia, Mohan Lal Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Kasturi Lal, Com.
