| J&K Power employees strike on March 5 | | | Jammu | Feb 23 All Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees Association has decided to go on one-day ‘Tool and Pen down stike’ on March 5, if there demands are not acceded upto February 28, as agreed by the state power minister Nawng Rigzin Jora. Addressing a Joint press conference here today, the leaders of the Association both from Jammu and Kashmir region Shakti Gupta, Mohd Shafi Dar and Jasbir Singh said, that due to the apathetic attitude of the state authorities the power employees in both the region are suffering a lot. They said the Power minister has assured that the demands will be met before the end of the current month and added if the authorities fail to fulfill this commitment than the employees will constrained to take some harsh steps. The leaders said, that the main demands are extension of benefit of SRO-149 in full to all I.T.I. matriculates and non I.T.I. matriculates SRO 311 of 1997 for counting service both for pensionary benefits and in-situ promotions. Risk allowance to all employees of PDD/PDC. They said risk allowance has been granted to be Police personal, employees in the Govt. press and health and medical educational, but the employees of the PDD have been deprived of the same despite of risk oriented duties attached in the Deptt. Re-organization of PDD including PDC, grant of guaranteed promotions benefits after completed five years service and promotional avenues for Ministerial staff and creation of post of store officers, senior stoer Assistants, and store keepers etc. They further said, that SRO 273 was issued by the Govt. for payment of ex-gratia payments to the victims of the accidents but no funds have been provided.
