| Romesh visits Niki Tawi, inspects ongoing works | | | Jammu, Feb 24 Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Dr Romesh Chander Sharma, today visited Niki Tawi area of Jammu to inspect pace of repair work on Bunds damaged during recent floods. Government had sanctioned rupees five crore for the repair of the Bunds after the survey conducted by the department of Irrigation and Flood control The areas visited by the minister include Sampuranpur Pulli, Ganesh Check, Wazira Check, Toph Manhas, Makwal and Khandwal. The minister stressed upon the engineers of the department to complete the repair work in stipulated time. He also enquired about the status at various construction sites along Niki Tawi area. Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, V K Abrol who was accompanying the minister apprised him about the over all works in progress along the Tawi. During the tour various deputations met the minister and expressed satisfaction over the repair works on the damaged Bunds. The minister assured the people that the government has formulated a project for channelising of Tawi and Niki Tawi so that the damages during floods are reduced.
