| Jugal chairs Deh Majlis Panjer | | ‘Lauds Azad for enacting Roshni Bill’ | | UDHAMPUR, FEB-25 Reiterating the commitment of coalition government led by the Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad in accelerating the developmental activities equitably in all the three regions of the state, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma has asserted that particular attention would be given to uplift the development activities in rural areas of the state. Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma was speaking at a Deh Majlis (Gram Sabha) held at model village Panjar in Bhamagh area of Udhampur district yesterday. The Secretary to Government, Rural Development Department, Mr. Mohammad Sayeed Khan, Director, Rural Development Department, Mr. B.R. Bhagat, Director, Rural Sanitation, Additional DDC Udhampur, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Bhat, Assistant Commissioner, Development, Udhampur and Block Development Officers of the district were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that Gram Sabhas would be held in all the 119 identified model villages of the state to have on the spot interaction with the villagers and officers about the progress of works going on in the model villages strictly under the guidelines of Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme leaving least scope of any complaint with regard to the quality of works completed or under execution. He also called upon the Executive Engineers and AEEs of his department to physical visit the sites of development works taking place in remote areas as well to inspect the quality of works executed or under execution. While issuing necessary guidelines and instructions to the officers of Rural Development Department to put in their sincere efforts in timely completion of works after completion of codal procedures and maintenance of proper records, Mr. Jugal asked the Sarpanches, Panches and prominent persons to keep a close watch on the developmental activities taking place in their areas with no compromise on the quality of works. They should also extend their cooperation to the executing agencies so that works are completed effectively. The Minister also asked the Director, Rural Sanitation to speed up the work on construction of individual household latrines and of community as well to save the environment from pollution. He also stressed for providing full coverage to individual household latrines to BPL families residing the model villages. The Block Development Officer, Panchari apprised the Gram Sabha that out of an outlay of Rs.1.20 crore for model village Panjar, more than Rs.49 lakhs have been spent on works like construction of 14 lanes and drains, Common Facility Centre building, Rural Information Centre in the premises of Govt. High School, Panjar, Shopping complex and development of play ground and picnic spot near Sitla Mata temple, Panjar. Out of 14 nos. lanes and drains taken up for construction, Nine lanes and drains have been completed at cost of over Rs.32 lakhs, the shopping complex was at roof level and Common Facility Centre at lintel level and work on other schemes at different stages of completion, the meeting was informed. General Secretary, Youth Congress of J&K State, Ex-Sarpanches, panches of Bhamag area also spoke on the occasion. Additional DDC Udhampur extended vote of thanks.
