| Relief to quake victims | | | SRINAGAR, FEB 25 Government of Jammu and Kashmir has provided Rs 52 crore as relief to 8,500 families affected by the October 8, 2005 earthquake in Uri sector of Baramulla district. The balance amount of Rs 20.50 crore will be distributed within coming 15 days for which the concerned sub-divisional magistrate has been directed to speed up the process, the divisional commissioner Kashmir, Basharat Ahmad said. Ahmed visited Uri and inspected the pace of developmental works, including those undertaken for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims. At Dani-Sayeedan village, Ahmed inaugurated the residential building constructed by health voluntary organization, a local NGO. About 50 residential houses, one community centre, one school and one health centre has been constructed by the said NGO for the quake victims.Ahmad also visited the sub-district hospital at Uri and inspect the tele medicine unit of the hospital and appreciated the functioning of the unit.He also inspected the under construction site of bus stand at Uri.
