| India-Pak gear up for cooperation in education arena | | | ISLAMABAD, FEB 25
Pakistan and India are set for cooperation in the field of education, which could begin with an exchange of books between NCERT and the National Book Foundation of Pakistan. After the recent meeting of Indo-Pak sub-commission on education, there is a possibility that the two countries will share their expertise and experience in the fields of elementary, secondary and adult education.z The cooperation may also result in the exchange of books between NCERT and NBF, Pakistan officials were quoted as saying by a TV channel. The Sub-Commission, which is part of Joint Commission between the two countries, identified six areas in which collaboration would be possible after further consultation. "Both countries feel that even as strategic issues would take their own time to fructify, meaningful collaboration is possible in the field of education and other areas," an official said. The Sub Commission has also decided to have institutional linkages between India's University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Both the countries would also cooperate in fields like economics, business administration, agriculture, health, law, information technology, science and technical education. India's National University of Educational Planning and Administration would also cooperate with its Pakistani counterpart for exchange of views on the educational policy of both countries.
