| International Conference on Canadian Studies concludes | | | JAMMU | FEB 25 The 23rd IACS International Conference on Canadian Studies on the theme Cosmopolitanism; Canada and India organized by centre for New Literatures, University of Jammu in collaboration with Indian Association for Canadian Studies (IACS). Concluded today at an impressive valedictory function Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Health and Medical Education was the Chief Guest of the function. In his address, the mentioned that there are many commonalities between India and Canada with the latter being a very good friend of the former. Both countries are the members of common wealth Nations and share many common values and ideologies. He further added that Canada is technologically advanced and India can learn a lot from such academic and cultural exchanges. He also congratulated Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, for organizing an international event on this scale at Jammu. Prof. Amitabh Mattoo in his address mentioned that soft powers of both these. Nations are essentially more crucial for strengthing the ties and further understanding between these nations. Both these countries can capitalize on each other’s competencies. Earlier Prof. Posh Charak, Conference Coordinator in her welcome address thanked the Canadian High Commission in India and IACS for making it possible to organize this conference at University of Jammu. Dr. RK Dhawan, President IACS in his address expressed his satisfaction over the success of the conference. Dr. Sucheta Pathania presented the formal vote of thanks. Earlier 170 research papers were presented in various technical sessions of the conference. Eleven books written by various authors from India and Canada were released on the occasion.
