| Massive reconstruction programme aims at socio-economic transformation of the state: Karra | | Community hall at Sidiq Abad inaugurated | | Srinagar, August 2 – Maintaining that the massive reconstruction programme launched by the coalition government as enshrined in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) will bring about socio-economic transformation in the state, the Minister for Housing and Urban Development and Forests Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra has said that these ambitious programmes can be accomplished only with the active cooperation of the people. Stating this while inaugurating the Community Hall at Sidiq Abad Batamloo today, the Minister said that the community hall has been completed within a record time at a cost of Rs. 28.5 lakhs. The community hall consists of a hall, care taker room, 2 sanitary units and bath rooms. The community hall has been constructed over an area of 2 kannals of land. The Minister said that the hall would be utilized for various social functions in the area. Mr. Karra said that the government has launched several welfare schemes aimed at providing succor to the people especially those living below the poverty line. He asked the people to come forward and avail the benefits of these welfare schemes adding that these are framed to improve living standard of the people and provide them employment opportunities. The Minister also visited Zankote area and took stock of various works under execution in the area and inspected Zanakote bridge which is under execution at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.00 crore. The bridge is expected to be completed by the end of current financial year. On completion the bridge would connect Hajj Bagh and Zanakote area. The Minister directed the concerned Engineers to speed up the construction work of the bridge and complete it within the stipulated time so that the people of the area get benefited. Later, the Minister visited the residences of social workers, late Gh. Mohammad Bhat R/o Zanakote, Late Gh. Nabi Rather R/O Shallateng and Late Ali Mohammad Nadroo R/o Ghat Parimpora and expressed his sympathies to their families. |
