| ‘Slogans like self rule, autonomy are ridiculous’ | | Infrastructure of militancy still intact : Prof Gupta | | JAMMU | FEB 25 Observing that the Congress coalitions, both at the centre as also in this State have created a messy situation, former Union Minister and a senior leader of BJP Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that there was not a single aspect of life wherein there was no confusion and anarchy. He was addressing the gathering of party activists and others at the border village of Thuthe Chak of Hiranagar Tehsil. Referring to the security aspect, Prof. Gupta pointed out that the terrorism is spreading from Kashmir to Mumbai, Assam, Manipur, Delhi, Panipat and there was hardly a place left where the cross border terror is not marking its presence but there was no effective law, not to say of any policy to tackle this menace. Regarding Jammu and Kashmir, he asserted that the infrastructure of militancy is still intact and weaponsand explosives are flowing across the border/ line of Control and the mentors of terrorism are having shelter in Pakistan. But, it was strange that slogans are being raised for demilitarization keep up with the tunes of power players of Pakistan. He ridiculed the cries for Self-Rule and Autonomy and said that an impression in being created that Kashmir is subjugated and the Indian Army is something foreigner. The BJP leader pointed out that this state is enjoying more powers and the Army is not only protecting them from terrorists but helping the people in any emergency and urgency. He said that such moves and slogans indicate that the coalition partners of the Congress are trying to facilitate militancy and secessionism under the garb of peace process and limited accession with India, and at the same time they are seeking more and more concessions and funds from the poor Indian exchequer. Prof. Gupta said that what can be the bigger joke that the percentage of people living Below the Poverty Line (BPL) in Jammu and Kashmir at 4 percent but in the same report it has been stated that the State is providing BPL rations drawn from the Centre to 7.36 lakh families. This forms over 35 percent of the total population whereas the national average of BPL in the country is just about 21 percent
