| High Court of Jammu issues notice in promotion case | | |

The Single Bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court of Jammu has issued notice to the respondents through its Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi, to chairman (ITDC)-New Delhi, Suneet Wanchoo, General Manager, Hotel Ashok- Jammu and Dilraj Singh officiating life Guard Hotel Jammu Ashok, Jammu.
Gharo Ram, working as a houseman in Hotel Jammu, Ashok Jammu has challenged the order dated 21-11-2006 passed by the General Manager, Hotel Ashok Jammu by virtue of which Dilraj Singh officiating life guard Hotel Jammu Ashok, Jammu was directed to report to House Keeper, Hotel Jammu Ashok Jammu for training and Handling of the job responsibility (ies) of the House Keeper. It is pleaded in the S.W.P No. 2236-06 that the General Manager Hotel-Jammu Ashok, Jammu is not competent to change the cadre of the said Dilraj Singh from the post of officiating life Guard to the post of House-Keeper especially when handling of the job responsibilities of the House-Keeper is a technical job and requires technical qualification of House Keeping. It was further alleged in the writ petition that the petition is working in the Accommodation (House Keeping) section of the Hotel-Jammu Ashok –Jammu for the last Eighteen years. I have acquired the technical experience and expertise.
The single bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court at Jammu, after hearing D.S. Chouhan, advocate for the writ petitioner passed the order that the order impugned shall not confer any benefit to Shri Dilraj Singh and the arrangement made vide impugned order shall only be considered as stop-tap in the exigency arising due to the Superannuation of one P.D. Singh House Keeper.
