| Court frames corruption charges against ASI | | | Jammu | Feb 26
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. JR Kotwal framed corruption charges against the then Incharge Police Post Kastigarh Doda, Bashir Ahmed ASI.
The accused while posted as Incharge Police Post Kastigarh Doda on March 25,2004 visited village Bhartund in connection with investigation of an Arson case having taken place in the shop of one Noor Mohammad during the intervening night March 20/ 21. The accused Police officer detained villagers in illegal confinement and harassed them and set them free after demanding and accepting Rs 15000/- as illegal gratification.
He also obtained Rs 80,000 and Rs.95,000 as illegal gratifications by misusing his official position and accordingly a case under sections 161, 342 RPC and 5(2) r/w 5(1) (d) PC Act 2006 was registered against him.
After framing the charges the Anti Corruption Judge has directed the prosecution to lead the evidence on next date of hearing.
