Exhibit unanimity in development process: RDD Minister

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26
Minister for Rural Development Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma has urged Sarpanches, Panches and public living in under developed rural pockets of the state to exhibit their unanimity by rising above party politics in execution of developmental activities in their areas to ensure a prosperous future.
Minister was speaking at a well-attended public rally at village Roun located at distance of 12 kilometers from Udhampur town on Dhar-Udhampur road yesterday.
Additional Deputy Development Commissioner Udhampur Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, District Panchayat Officer and officers of different departments including Ex-Sarpanches, Panches and people of adjoining villages were also present on the occasion.
Responding to the demand of augmentation of drinking water supply in village Thill and Roun, the Minister said that to cope up 2 lakh gallons per day drinking water supply requirement in in these two villages, the PHE division, Udhampur has already started work by digging two dug wells in River Tawi near Jaganoo bridge with the capacity of supply 15000 gallons of wa t er per hour under Accelerated Rural Water Supply scheme at an estimated expenditure of Rs 2.35 crore.
Mr. Jugal further collaborated that water reservoirs at village Sounthjan and Thill have already been completed and pipes laid but the work on constructing water reservoir at village Roun yet needed to be completed. After completion of reservoir in village Roun, the much awaited demand of people would be got fulfilled., the Minister asserted. He, however, instructed the officers of Civil and Mechanical Wings of PHE to put in their sincere efforts in effecting purchase of machinery and construction work at an earliest possible time frame so that genuine grievances of the people could be addressed.
The Minister also announced to provide Rs one lakh for starting work on construction of Panchayatgarh at village Roun and assured more funds for the purpose. He also assured the people to bring village Thill and Roun under Watershed Project and asked the Additional District Development Commissioner to take necessary steps in this direction.
With regard to the persistent demand of inhabitants of village Roun to rename Ramnagar Domail Railway station situated in village Roun as roun-Domail Railway Station, the Minister asked the District Administration to take up the issue with Railway Ministry so that the demand of public could be redressed.
Councilor Brij Mohan Sharma, local sarpanch Captain Kor Singh also spoke on the occasion.
