Nek Ram refutes press reports, clarify his stand
2/27/2007 10:21:17 PM

JAMMU, FEB 27
Strongly refuting the report carried by a section of press recently in which he is reported to have criticized the senior Congress party leader and former Minister Mohammed Sharief Niaz, President BBC Kishtwar Nek Ram clarified here today that he has been misquoted and said the report was totally baseless and far from truth. He said that during his press conference on February 19 he had raised the issues relating to the people of Paddar apart from demanding representation to the area in Upper House and in no way had uttered a word against Niaz and maintained that he has been misquoted in the said report.
Addressing media men here today, Nek Ram said that he has great regard for Niaz who has been instrumental in strengthening the party at the grass roots level besides taking up several developmental works in Kishtwar.
Strongly refuting the charges leveled against Niaz in the press report, the BBC President said all these allegations are totally baseless and fabricated just to tarnish the image of Niaz who is most popular leader in the area.
He said it was the handiwork of some of the party leaders who were projecting themselves as the party’s candidate for MLC post but were denied it. After having failed to get nomination these very leaders have started a vilification campaign against the party’s senior leader, the BBC President alleged.
